Hello lovely,
How are we already on the tenth poem of the month?! I started this series at the beginning of September, just after I returned from our honeymoon and right before I starting
. And what a journey it has been so far! I will be forever grateful for the Substack Soiree for giving me the tools, inspiration and true support on this platform. This piece was inspired by
’s post ‘Boring Girl Summer’ that I read earlier this week. So much so that I had to stop what I was doing and capture the words before they decided to flee my mind.Enjoy… And remember, sometimes the best memories are made from the simplest of things.
A Slow Summer…
One of dappled sunlight streaking through the trees / golden hour strolls with no destination in mind / mornings spent reading in the garden, or on the beach, or by the lake / tomatoes of every variety / staying up a little past your bedtime just because it’s still light outside / a summer of music drifting through the air / a summer of wearing that bikini because let’s face it, nobody actually cares / one of dancing in the kitchen, glass of wine in hand / dreaming of being everywhere and nowhere at all / of writing poetry whilst bathing in the sun / the scent of honeysuckle engulfing you / and of fresh mango juice dripping down your wrist, the taste so sweet your lover’s lips get jealous.
If your soul felt called to this sweet summer poem, why not check out my latest book, Breakfast on the Terrace & Wine by the Sea? A coffee table poetry book made for the dreamers.
Beautiful! 🌞
Quite good! I feel the imagery told here, as summer is a whimsical season.
